Create a post

Every step of writing and scheduling one post, from picking accounts to pressing Schedule.

On this page

The Create page is where you write one post and send it to one or more accounts.

Where to find it#

Dashboard → Create, or the New post button at the top of any page.

Create a post: where to post, the text box with AI write, image and network options tabs, and when to post

To change a post you already made, open its … menu and choose Edit. A post that is already posted cannot be changed.

The steps#

  1. Pick the accounts. Under Where to post, tick each account you want. Accounts that need reconnecting are greyed out. + Add takes you to Channels to connect another.
  2. Write. Type your post. Or open the AI write tab under the text box: describe the post and press Write. Once there is text, quick buttons like Shorter and Friendlier change it in one click. See Write with AI.
  3. Add an image or video, or create an AI image. This is optional, except on networks that need media. See Images and video.
  4. Set options per network, if you want. Open the Network options tab under the text box for things like a first comment, an Instagram Reel, or a YouTube title. The defaults work fine. See Options per network.
  5. Check the preview. It shows how the post will look on each network.
  6. Pick a time. Choose a date and time, or press one of the suggested Good times.
  7. Send it. Choose one of the buttons below.

The buttons#

Ask a teammate to approve is part of the Team plan and up. On Free and Individual the button shows a Team lock. See Approvals.

Different text for each network#

By default every network gets the same text.

Press Write different text for a network to get a tab for each network. Leave a tab empty to use the main text there. A custom label shows on networks with their own text.

Under the text box, a counter shows how many characters each network allows, for example X (Twitter) 120/280. It turns red when you go over.

What stops you from scheduling#

Social9 checks the post before it lets you press Schedule post. The reasons show in orange next to the button. The usual ones:

  • The text is too long for a network
  • A network needs a photo or video, and there is none
  • A network takes fewer images than you added
  • A required option is missing, for example who can see a TikTok post

Fix what it says, or untick that account.
