Meta Graph API v26: What Changes for Every Facebook Integration on October 27, 2026

Meta's Graph API v26.0 changes reach every API version on October 27, 2026, after reach metrics gave way to media views. What Facebook schedulers should check.

What changed

Meta released Graph API v26.0 and Marketing API v26.0 on July 29, 2026. Several of its breaking changes apply to every remaining API version from October 27, 2026, per the v26.0 changelog, so integrations pinned to older versions can't put them off past that date. Together with the 2026 move from "reach" and "impressions" to "media views" and "viewers" in Page insights, this affects any tool that publishes to Facebook Pages or reports on them.

Changes reaching all versions on October 27, 2026

From the v26.0 changelog:

ChangeWhat happens
Legacy protocol features removedpretty and debug are ignored; date_format requests error; root GET /?ids=... requests error; If-None-Match/ETag caching and 304 Not Modified responses go away
Commerce Order Management API removed47 endpoints removed with no replacement, following the sunset of Checkout on Facebook and Instagram
Messenger Stories ad placementRemoved, including unversioned calls
Poll ad creativesCreation deprecated

The v26.0 changelog also removes several legacy Page fields (current_location, genre, network, parking, start_info) and the auto_publish_page_info_updates setting for New Pages Experience Pages. That applies on v26.0+ now and to all versions about 90 days after launch, with the date still "to be confirmed." The Instagram Explore Feed ad placement is also unavailable from v26.0.

Insights: reach and impressions replaced by media views

With v25.0 on February 18, 2026, Meta announced that legacy reach, impressions and 3-second video view metrics would be deprecated for all API versions. Meta's Page Insights reference states that "by June 15, 2026" a number of Page Insights metrics would be deprecated for all versions. The v25.0 changelog lists the replacements:

Old metricReplacement
page_impressions_uniquepage_total_media_view_unique, page_media_view
post_impressions_uniquepost_total_media_view_unique, post_media_view
PAGE_STORY_IMPRESSIONS_BY_STORY_ID_UNIQUESTORY_TOTAL_MEDIA_VIEW_UNIQUE

Meta describes the new viewers metric as intended to replace the legacy reach metric and to give consistent measurement across Facebook and Instagram. Deprecated metrics return an error when requested.

Version expirations

Per the v26.0 launch post, Graph API v20.0 was deprecated and removed on September 24, 2026, and v21.0 will be removed on January 21, 2027. The v25.0 post gave v19.0's removal date as May 21, 2026.

Who it affects

  • Brands and agencies that publish to Facebook Pages through a third-party tool. Basic Page publishing isn't on the October 27 list, but tools built on older client code or legacy request patterns (such as root ?ids= batch reads) may hit errors.
  • Anyone comparing Facebook performance year over year. Reports that ran on "reach" and "impressions" now show "views" and "viewers," which are measured differently.
  • Shops that used Facebook or Instagram checkout order management. Those endpoints are being removed with no replacement.

What to do if you schedule posts

  1. Watch your Facebook queue on and after October 27, 2026. Check that scheduled Page posts publish and that analytics still load. Report any errors to your tool provider straight away.
  2. Relabel your reports. If dashboards switched from reach to views or viewers, add a note to client and leadership reports so a jump or drop isn't misread as a performance change.
  3. Restart benchmarks from the switch. Treat the first full month on media views as a new baseline instead of comparing with older reach numbers.
  4. Reconnect Facebook Pages if prompted. Tools moving to newer API versions sometimes need fresh permissions.
  5. Check Page details if you relied on auto-published info updates. That setting is being removed for New Pages Experience Pages.
  6. Keep posting consistently while you check. A steady calendar makes the before-and-after easier to read. The Facebook post creator and scheduling guide can help. See the Facebook channel page for Social9's Facebook support and the analytics tool for reporting.
