LinkedIn's October 2026 Marketing API (202610) lets apps boost member and Page posts, while version 202510 sunsets October 15, 2026. What schedulers should do.
LinkedIn has released its October 2026 Marketing API version, 202610. Its main addition is a Boost API that lets approved apps turn an existing member or Company Page post into a sponsored ad. Older versions are also expiring: LinkedIn's changelog lists version 202510 for sunset on October 15, 2026 and 202511 on November 16, 2026. Any tool still sending those version headers has to upgrade or its LinkedIn calls will fail.
According to LinkedIn's versioning documentation:
Linkedin-Version header in YYYYMM format (for example 202610). LinkedIn does not apply the latest version by default. In practice, a scheduling tool that hasn't updated its LinkedIn integration in about a year can stop publishing on sunset day.
LinkedIn's Boost overview describes two contexts. Member Boost covers posts owned by the authenticated member. Company Page Boost covers posts on behalf of an organization the member can manage. The workflow mirrors the native Boost button:
| Step | Endpoint (member / organization) | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Status | memberBoostStatus / organizationBoostStatus | Checks whether the post can be boosted, and why not if it can't |
| 2. Init | memberBoostInit / organizationBoostInit | Resolves or creates the sponsored account and billing setup |
| 3. Hydrate | memberBoostHydrate / organizationBoostHydrate | Previews targeting, forecast and pricing for a budget and objective |
| 4. Post | memberBoostPost / organizationBoostPost | Creates the campaign group, campaign and creative |
| 5. Analytics | memberBoostAnalytics | Returns performance for boosted member posts |
The docs set some limits. Apps need approval for the Advertising API product and the matching boost permissions (rw_member_boost, rw_organization_boost and related read scopes). Requests need Linkedin-Version: 202610 or higher. Company Page Boost analytics are not supported yet, and LinkedIn points to the Ad Analytics API for Page boost reporting.
The 2026 changelog also includes:
templateName and linkbackContext fields for attributing videos made with third-party tools.metricType format in member post and video analytics responses.October 2026, header value 202610, per LinkedIn's versioning page.
A minimum of one year before sunset, according to LinkedIn.
Yes, with version 202610 or later, an app approved for the Advertising API and the rw_organization_boost permission (Boost overview).
