Social9 is a platform designed to help you reach more people by using social media. It's built so that with minimal setup, you can start engaging your site visitors. The platform has lots of social providers and customizable designs that should fit your site. You just change it in the platform with real-time visualization, and they do the hard work!
Getting Started
First thing's first, you need a Social9 account to get going!
- Log in or register at social9.com using your standard email/password or one of the social providers.
- The dashboard shows all your created widgets. A widget basically has the social provider buttons to show on your site, and it's totally customizable. Let's get into the details.
- Click the New Widget button to make a new widget. You'll be sent to a screen to pick the widget type. Pick from any of the available styles and click Configure the Widget (you can change it later).
The Editor
This is where you set up and design your widget. It's got 5 sections for configuration details, plus a real-time preview.
Basic
The basic tab has all the necessary configurations like:
- A unique widget name.
- Container Selector (this is only for inline widgets).
- Default social button styles (also only for inline widgets).
What's an inline widget? Think of it as a widget that's placed directly within the content of your webpage, like in a paragraph or a specific div. It's not a standalone block that floats around.
- Container Selector: For inline widgets, this lets you specify exactly where on your page the widget should appear. You'd usually put in a CSS selector (like
#my-specific-div
or.content-area
) to tell Social9 which part of your HTML to put the widget into. - Default social button styles: When you're using an inline widget, this setting lets you choose how the social buttons look by default. You might pick from a few pre-set styles to match your site's look without having to customize every single button.
Design
This tab is for customizing your widget's theme.
This section isn't available when you're using the Default Provider Style.
What's "Default Provider Style"? This refers to a setting where Social9 uses the standard, out-of-the-box look and feel for the social sharing buttons provided by each social network (like Facebook, Twitter, etc.). When this is active, Social9's own design options are bypassed because it's just using what the social networks themselves provide. You'd typically see this option when you want a quick, no-fuss setup or if you're aiming for a very specific, native look for each button.
Advanced Settings
Here's where you can tweak more technical aspects of your widget.
- Widget Visibility: Control when and where your widget shows up. You can set it to appear on specific pages, based on user behavior (like scroll depth or time on page), or even hide it on certain devices.
- Custom CSS: If you're comfortable with code, you can add your own custom CSS here to have complete control over the widget's appearance beyond the standard design options.
- Tracking & Analytics: Configure how Social9 tracks user interactions with your widget. This might include setting up custom event tracking for analytics platforms.
Performance
This section focuses on optimizing your widget for speed and efficiency.
- Lazy Loading: Enable lazy loading to ensure your widget only loads when it's actually visible in the user's viewport, improving initial page load times.
- Script Optimization: Options to defer or asynchronously load the widget's JavaScript, further reducing its impact on your site's performance.
- Cache Settings: Configure caching for the widget's assets to speed up subsequent loads.
Integrations
Connect your Social9 widget with other tools and platforms.
- Analytics Platforms: Link your widget to Google Analytics, Matomo, or other analytics tools to send custom events and data about widget engagement.
- CRM & Marketing Automation: Integrate with tools like HubSpot or Mailchimp to pass on lead data collected through social sharing or other widget features.
- Custom Webhooks: Set up webhooks to send data to your own custom endpoints for advanced integrations and workflows.

Accessing Analytics
Social9 provides detailed analytics on visitor behavior, conversion rates, and social media trends. To access these insights:
- Navigate to the Dashboard: After logging into your Social9 account, you'll see a dashboard.
- Locate the Analytics Section: Look for a dedicated "Analytics" or "Reports" tab or section within your dashboard.
- Explore Your Data: Here, you can view metrics such as:
- Widget Performance: See which widgets are getting the most clicks and engagement.
- Traffic Sources: Understand where the traffic driven by your widgets is coming from.
- Conversion Rates: Track how effectively your widgets are contributing to desired actions (e.g., sign-ups, shares).
- Audience Behavior: Gain insights into how visitors interact with your content after engaging with your widgets.
- Social Media Trends: While the platform focuses on your site's behavior, it may also offer insights into broader social media trends relevant to your audience.
Other Free Tools
Social9 also offers other useful free tools to help your website grow:
- Cloud Commenting Tool: Enhance user interaction on your blog posts or articles with a modern commenting system. You can usually access this by looking for a "Commenting" or "Tools" section in your Social9 dashboard.
- URL Shortener: Create shorter, cleaner links for easy sharing. This tool is typically found within the main dashboard or a dedicated "Tools" area.
- Twitter Post Scheduler (Beta): Plan and schedule your Twitter posts directly through Social9. As it's in beta, you might find this option in a specific "Beta Features" section or within the main dashboard, likely with instructions on how to use it.
