# Social9 Docs > How to set up and use Social9: connect your social accounts, plan and schedule posts, run Autopilot in your brand voice, work with your team and connect Claude over MCP. Index: https://social9.com/docs/llms.txt --- # Getting started Source: https://social9.com/docs/getting-started > What Social9 does, what you need before you start, and the order to set things up in. Social9 posts to your social accounts for you. You write a post once (or let the AI write it), pick where it goes and when, and Social9 sends it out on time. It can also plan a whole week of posts for you in your brand's voice. That part is called **Autopilot**. You decide how much it is allowed to do on its own. --- ![The Social9 home screen: this week at a glance and the Get going checklist](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/home.png) ## What you need | Thing | Why | Required | |---|---|---| | **A name for your brand** | Posts are always written for one brand | Yes | | **Your website address** | Social9 reads it and fills in your brand profile for you | No | | **Logins for your social accounts** | You sign in once to give Social9 permission to post | Yes, to post | | **A card** | Only for a paid plan. The Free plan needs no card | No | You do not need a developer. There is nothing to install. --- ## The order to do it in 1. [Create your workspace and brand](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/create-your-workspace-and-brand): tell Social9 about your business 2. [Connect your accounts](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/connect-your-accounts): sign in to the networks you post on 3. [Get your first post out](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-post): write it, pick a time, schedule it 4. [Choose a plan](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/choose-a-plan): when you need more accounts, credits or people The **Home** page shows a **Get going** checklist with the same steps. The goal is one post live and three more scheduled. --- ## Where things are The menu on the left of the dashboard has three parts. | Section | Pages | What they are for | |---|---|---| | **Main** | Home, Approvals, Calendar, Create, Upload, Analytics, Library | Your week, writing and scheduling posts, and seeing what went out | | **Brands & channels** | Brands, Channels | Your brands and the social accounts they post to | | **Settings** | Workspace, Members & roles, Billing & plan, Usage, Connected apps | Timezone, your team, your plan, and AI apps you have connected | At the top of every page you will find: - **The brand switcher**, to work on one brand or **All brands** - **Your plan**, with the AI credits you have left this month. Click it to see what you have used - **Search**, to jump to any page. Press **Ctrl + K** (or **Cmd + K** on a Mac) > **Tip:** On a phone, the first four pages sit in a bar at the bottom. Everything else is under **More**. --- ## Next steps - [Create your workspace and brand](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/create-your-workspace-and-brand): the two questions Social9 asks, and what it fills in for you - [Creating posts](https://social9.com/docs/posts): everything about writing, images and scheduling --- # Create your workspace and brand Source: https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/create-your-workspace-and-brand > How your workspace and your first brand are set up, what Social9 reads from your website, and the settings to check before you schedule anything. Everything in Social9 lives in a **workspace**. Your plan, your team and your timezone belong to the workspace. Inside it you have one or more **brands**. A brand is one business or product. Each brand has its own voice, its own social accounts and its own posts. --- ![The Brands page with a brand card](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/brands.png) ## Your workspace You get a workspace when you sign up. There is nothing to create. Check two settings before you schedule your first post. **Where to find it:** **Dashboard → Workspace.** | Setting | What it changes | |---|---| | **Workspace name** | The name your team sees | | **Writing language** | The language AI writes in, unless you pick another one for a post | | **Timezone** | The times on your calendar and the times posts go out, for everyone in the workspace | > **Note:** Get the timezone right first. Every time you pick in Social9 is in the workspace timezone, not your computer's. Only the owner or an admin can change these settings. Everyone else can see them. --- ## Your first brand **Where to find it:** **Home → Create your brand**, or **Dashboard → Brands → Add brand**. 1. Type your **Brand name** and one line on **What do you do?** 2. Choose **I have a website** and type the address, or **I don't have a website**. 3. Press **Continue**. If you gave a website, Social9 reads your homepage. This takes about 20 seconds. 4. Check what it found on the **Check your brand** screen. Change anything that is wrong. 5. Save. Prefer to type it all yourself? Press **Skip and fill in myself**. --- ## What goes in the brand profile | Field | What it is used for | |---|---| | **Who it's for** | Who the AI writes to | | **Tone (up to 3)** | How the posts sound, for example Friendly or Professional | | **What you'll post about** | Your content pillars: the topics posts rotate through | | **Main call to action** | What you want readers to do, for example "Book a table" | | **Website, Industry, Location** | Background the AI can use | | **Products / services, Hashtags, Competitors** | More detail for better posts | You can change all of it later on the brand's **Profile** tab. > **Tip:** The more specific you are, the less you will edit later. "Busy parents in Leeds who love good bread" works better than "everyone". --- ## See your first week of posts Once your brand exists, the **Home** page offers to **Write my first week**. Social9 writes 3 posts from your website or description. This uses 12 of your AI credits. You do not need to connect any accounts first. You read the posts, then press **Review and schedule**. Nothing goes out until you schedule it. --- ## How many brands you can have | Plan | Brands | |---|---| | Free | 1 | | Individual | 1 | | Team | 3 | | Agency | 5 | | Enterprise | Unlimited | When you reach the limit, **Add brand** asks you to upgrade. See [Choose a plan](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/choose-a-plan). --- ## Next steps - [Connect your accounts](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/connect-your-accounts): give your brand somewhere to post - [Brand voice](https://social9.com/docs/brand/brand-voice): make the AI sound like you --- # Connect your accounts Source: https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/connect-your-accounts > How to connect each social network to a brand, how many accounts your plan allows, and how Social9 keeps an eye on them. A connected account is where your posts go. Each account belongs to one brand. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Channels.** Pick the brand at the top of the page first. ![The Channels page: connected accounts and a card for every network](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/channels.png) The page shows two things: the accounts already connected to this brand, and a card for every network you can add. --- ## Connecting an account 1. Find the network's card and press **Connect**. 2. Sign in to the network in the window that opens, and allow Social9 to post. 3. You come back to the Channels page. The account now shows under the brand. Most networks take under a minute. Social9 only asks for permission to publish and to read results. Two networks work differently: | Network | What you type instead | |---|---| | **Bluesky** | Your handle and an **app password**. See [Bluesky](https://social9.com/docs/networks/bluesky) | | **Mastodon** | Your server, for example `mastodon.social`. Then you sign in there. See [Mastodon](https://social9.com/docs/networks/mastodon) | Some networks have rules about the kind of account you connect. Read the network's page before you start: [Instagram](https://social9.com/docs/networks/instagram) needs a professional account, [Facebook](https://social9.com/docs/networks/facebook) posts to Pages only, and [LinkedIn](https://social9.com/docs/networks/linkedin) has a separate button for Company Pages. --- ## Who can connect accounts Owners and admins. If you are an editor, approver or viewer, ask one of them to connect the account for you. --- ## How many accounts your plan allows | Plan | Networks | Accounts per brand | Accounts in total | |---|---|---|---| | Free | LinkedIn, Instagram, Mastodon, Bluesky | 3 | 3 | | Individual | All 11 | 3 | 3 | | Team | All 11 | 3 | 9 | | Agency | All 11 | 5 | 25 | | Enterprise | All 11 | Unlimited | Unlimited | On the Free plan, the other networks show a lock and **Available on Individual**. When you reach your limit, the page offers **Get more accounts**. --- ## We check every account daily Once a day, Social9 makes one small read-only check on each account. It never posts and never reads your feed. | You see | What it means | What to do | |---|---|---| | **Connected** | The last check worked | Nothing | | **Disconnects soon** | The network's login runs out within two days | Press **Reconnect** before it does | | **Needs reconnect** | The login stopped working | Press **Reconnect**. Posts to this account wait until you do | If an account stops working, you get a banner in the dashboard, a note in the bell, and an email. Posts to that account are on hold, not lost. Reconnecting takes about a minute. --- ## Disconnecting Press the disconnect button on the account. Scheduled posts to that account will not go out. Your past posts and their history stay. Only owners and admins can disconnect accounts. --- ## Next steps - [Get your first post out](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-post) - [Networks](https://social9.com/docs/networks): what each network supports, and its rules --- # Get your first post out Source: https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-post > The two quickest ways to schedule a post, and how to check that it went out. There are two ways to write a post. Use the quick one to get started, and the full editor when you want images, AI or different text per network. --- ![The Create a post screen with a post written and two accounts picked](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/create-post.png) ## The quick way: Quick post on Home **Where to find it:** **Dashboard → Home → Quick post.** It shows once you have a connected account. 1. Type your post in **What do you want to share?** 2. Untick any account you do not want to post to. All your connected accounts start ticked. 3. Press **Schedule for best time**. Social9 picks the next good time for those networks and shows it under the box. Or press **Save draft** to finish it later. If your text is too long for one of the networks, Quick post tells you. Press **Open full editor** to write a shorter version for that network. --- ## The full way: Create **Where to find it:** **Dashboard → Create**, or the **New post** button at the top of any page. 1. **Where to post.** Tick the accounts. 2. **Write your post.** Type it, or open the **AI write** tab under the text box, describe it and let the AI write it. 3. **Add an image or video** if you want one. Some networks need one, see below. 4. **When to post.** Pick a date and time, or press one of the suggested good times. 5. Press **Schedule post**. See [Create a post](https://social9.com/docs/posts/create-a-post) for every step in detail. > **Note:** Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest cannot post text on its own. Instagram and TikTok need a photo or video, YouTube needs a video, and Pinterest needs an image. --- ## Check that it went out | Where | What you see | |---|---| | **Calendar** | The post on its day. A tick once it is posted. Click it to see it live | | **Library → Posted** | Every post that went out, with **View live** links to each network | | **Library → Didn't post** | Any post that could not go out, with the reason and a **Retry** button | If something did not go out, see [When something is wrong](https://social9.com/docs/help). --- ## Next steps - [Create a post](https://social9.com/docs/posts/create-a-post): every option in the editor - [Plan your week](https://social9.com/docs/planning/plan-your-week): let Autopilot write a week of posts for you to check --- # Choose a plan Source: https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/choose-a-plan > What each plan includes, what happens on Free, and how to upgrade. Every workspace starts on **Free**. You can stay there as long as you like. Upgrade when you need more accounts, more AI credits, more brands or more people. A plan covers one workspace: all its brands, accounts and team members. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Billing & plan.** Or press **Upgrade** next to your plan at the top of any page. ![The Billing & plan page with the five plans](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/billing.png) --- ## The plans | | Free | Individual | Team | Agency | Enterprise | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | **Price a month** | $0 | $12 | $39 | $99 | Custom | | **Price a year** | $0 | $120 | $390 | $990 | Custom | | **AI credits a month** | 20 | 150 | 500 | 1,500 | Unlimited | | **Brands** | 1 | 1 | 3 | 5 | Unlimited | | **Accounts per brand** | 3 | 3 | 3 | 5 | Unlimited | | **Accounts in total** | 3 | 3 | 9 | 25 | Unlimited | | **Networks** | LinkedIn, Instagram, Mastodon, Bluesky | All 11 | All 11 | All 11 | All 11 | | **Scheduling** | 10 posts waiting per account | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | | **Autopilot: Drafts only** | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | | **Autopilot: Approve first** | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | | **Autopilot: Full** | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | | **Team approvals** | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | | **Team seats** | 1 | 1 | 5 | 10 | Unlimited | | **Analytics history** | 30 days | 90 days | 365 days | 365 days | 730 days | | **X posts a month** | No | 50 | 150 | 300 | Unlimited | | **Connect AI apps (MCP)** | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | | **Single sign-on (SSO)** | No | No | No | No | Yes | Paying yearly gives you two months free. > **Note:** A post written by AI uses 4 credits, so 20 credits is about 5 posts and 150 is about 37. See [Credits and usage](https://social9.com/docs/account/credits-and-usage). --- ## Upgrading 1. Open **Billing & plan**. 2. Choose **Monthly** or **Yearly · 2 months free**. 3. Press **Upgrade to** the plan you want. 4. Press **Continue to payment** and pay on the secure checkout page. You come back to Social9 when you are done. The new plan can take a minute to show. Only the workspace owner can change the plan. Everyone else sees the plans but cannot buy. --- ## Enterprise Enterprise is priced on request. A post that is already posted cannot be changed. --- ## The steps 1. **Pick the accounts.** Under **Where to post**, tick each account you want. Accounts that need reconnecting are greyed out. **+ Add** takes you to Channels to connect another. 2. **Write.** Type your post. Or open the **AI write** tab under the text box: describe the post and press **Write**. Once there is text, quick buttons like **Shorter** and **Friendlier** change it in one click. See [Write with AI](https://social9.com/docs/posts/write-with-ai). 3. **Add an image or video**, or create an AI image. This is optional, except on networks that need media. See [Images and video](https://social9.com/docs/posts/images-and-video). 4. **Set options per network**, if you want. Open the **Network options** tab under the text box for things like a first comment, an Instagram Reel, or a YouTube title. The defaults work fine. See [Options per network](https://social9.com/docs/posts/options-per-network). 5. **Check the preview.** It shows how the post will look on each network. 6. **Pick a time.** Choose a date and time, or press one of the suggested **Good times**. 7. **Send it.** Choose one of the buttons below. --- ## The buttons | Button | What happens | |---|---| | **Schedule post** | Goes out at the time you picked | | **Post now** | Goes out in about a minute | | **Save as draft** | Kept in Library → Drafts. Nothing is sent | | **Ask a teammate to approve** | Goes to Approvals. On Free and Individual the button shows a Team lock. See [Approvals](https://social9.com/docs/planning/approvals). --- ## Different text for each network By default every network gets the same text. Press **Write different text for a network** to get a tab for each network. Leave a tab empty to use the main text there. A **custom** label shows on networks with their own text. Under the text box, a counter shows how many characters each network allows, for example **X (Twitter) 120/280**. It turns red when you go over. --- ## What stops you from scheduling Social9 checks the post before it lets you press **Schedule post**. The reasons show in orange next to the button. The usual ones: - The text is too long for a network - A network needs a photo or video, and there is none - A network takes fewer images than you added - A required option is missing, for example who can see a TikTok post Fix what it says, or untick that account. --- ## Next steps - [Write with AI](https://social9.com/docs/posts/write-with-ai) - [Options per network](https://social9.com/docs/posts/options-per-network) --- # Write with AI Source: https://social9.com/docs/posts/write-with-ai > How to have the AI write or change a post in your brand voice, what each button does, and what it costs in credits. The AI can write a post from a few words, or change one you wrote. It writes in your brand's voice and only uses facts from your brand profile. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Create**, the **AI write** tab under the text box in **Write your post**. It is open when the page loads. ![The AI write tab under the text box, with one-tap edits](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/create-post.png) --- ## Write a new post 1. Describe the post in a few words, for example "new menu launches Monday". 2. Press **Write**. Not sure what to say? Press one of the starting ideas under the box: **Our latest news**, **A helpful tip for customers** or **A special offer**. --- ## Change a post Once there is text, the box asks what to change. - Type an instruction, for example "mention our Friday sale", and press **Rewrite**. - Or press a quick button: | Button | What it does | |---|---| | **Shorter** | Makes it shorter | | **Friendlier** | Makes it friendlier | | **Add a call to action** | Adds a clear call to action | | **Add hashtags** | Adds 3 relevant hashtags | | **Fix grammar** | Fixes grammar only | Did not like the result? Press **Undo AI** to get your text back. --- ## Best quality The **Best quality** switch uses a stronger AI model. It costs 8 credits a write instead of 4. The cost shows under the box before you press anything. --- ## What it costs | Action | Credits | |---|---| | AI writes or rewrites a post | 4 | | With **Best quality** on | 8 | If the AI fails or times out, you are not charged. See [Credits and usage](https://social9.com/docs/account/credits-and-usage). --- ## Make it sound like you The AI uses your brand voice. Under the box it says **Uses your brand voice**, or offers **Set up Brand Voice** if you have not done it yet. Ten minutes in [Brand voice](https://social9.com/docs/brand/brand-voice) saves you editing every post afterwards. --- ## Check before you post After the AI writes, two things may show under the text: - **Check this** warnings, for any price, date, number or strong claim that is not in your facts sheet - **Why this post**, which shows the topic, the voice and what the post was based on See [Fact checks and "Why this post"](https://social9.com/docs/brand/fact-checks-and-why-this-post). --- ## Other places the AI writes for you | Where | What it does | |---|---| | **Create → Plan many** | Writes a week, two weeks or a month of posts. It is read out to people who use screen readers. Social9 reminds you when an image has none. --- ## Create an image with AI 1. Press **Create image with AI**. 2. Describe what to show under **What should the image show?** For example: "A warm loaf of sourdough on a wooden counter, morning light". 3. Pick a **Shape**: **Square 1:1**, **Portrait 4:5**, **Story 9:16** or **Wide 16:9**. Social9 picks a sensible one for your networks. 4. Pick a **Style**: **Photo**, **Lifestyle**, **Flat lay**, **Illustration**, **Minimal** or **Bold colours**. 5. Choose **1 option** or **2 options**. 6. Press **Create image** (or **Create 2 images**). It takes up to a minute. 7. Press **Use this image**, or **Edit this image** and say what should change, for example "Make the background white". The AI does not add text, prices or logos unless you ask for exact words. | Image | Credits each | |---|---| | Standard | 10 | | **Sharper** switch on | 20 | If it takes too long and stops, you are not charged for unfinished images. --- ## What each network accepts | Network | Images | Videos | Mix in one post | Needs media | |---|---|---|---|---| | Facebook | Up to 10 | 1 | No | No | | Instagram | Up to 10 | Up to 10 | Yes | Yes, a photo or video | | Threads | Up to 20 | Up to 20 | Yes | No | | LinkedIn | Up to 9 | 1 | No | No | | X | Up to 4 | 1 | No | No | | TikTok | Up to 35 | 1 | No | Yes, a photo or video | | YouTube | None | 1 | No | Yes, a video | | Pinterest | Up to 5 | None | No | Yes, an image | | Bluesky | Up to 4 | None | No | No | | Mastodon | Up to 4 | 1 | No | No | | Google Business Profile | 1 | None | No | No | If your media does not fit a network, the editor tells you before you can schedule. Every network has its own extras. You never have to touch them: the defaults work fine. Open them when you want a first comment, a Reel, a thread or a poll. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Create → Network options** (the third tab under the text box). An orange dot on the tab means something needs fixing before you can schedule. Each network you picked gets its own section, **Options for** the network. The common options are at the top. Press **More options** for the rest. If a section says **Needs one thing**, a required option is missing. You cannot schedule until it is filled in. --- ## What each network offers | Network | Main options | Required | |---|---|---| | **Facebook** | First comment. Social9 splits long text into numbered posts that each fit the network's limit. You can edit each part, **Add part**, or **Split again from main text**. If your text is too long and you have not turned threads on, the section tells you. Turn it on, or write shorter text for that network. --- ## First comments A first comment is posted as a comment right after the post goes live. It is a good place for a link or extra hashtags. It works on **Facebook**, **Instagram** and **LinkedIn**. --- ## Polls **X** and **Mastodon** can add a poll with up to 4 choices. Already have the photos and videos? Drop them all in at once. Each file becomes its own post that you can caption, time and send. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Upload → Photos & videos.** Or **Create** and press **Upload** in the switch at the top. ![Upload & schedule: drop photos and videos or import a CSV](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/upload.png) You need a brand with at least one connected account first. --- ## The steps 1. **Add your files.** Drop them on the page, or press **Choose files**. Up to 50 files at a time. 2. **Wait for the uploads.** Each card shows its progress. Big videos upload in the background. You can **Pause** and **Resume**, and an upload picks up again if your connection drops. 3. **Write the captions.** Type one on each card. Or press **Write captions with AI** to fill in every empty caption in your brand voice. 4. **Pick the accounts** for each post under **Post to**. 5. **Pick a time** on each card, or leave it empty. 6. **Send them.** Choose one of the buttons below. --- ## The buttons | Button | What happens | |---|---| | **Schedule all at best times** | Cards with a time keep it. Cards without one get a good time for their networks | | **Send to approvals** | Every ready card goes to Approvals. Team plan and up | | **Save as drafts** | Kept in Library → Drafts | | **Clear saved** | Removes the cards that are done from the page | | **Open calendar** | Shows where they landed | Cards with a problem are marked in orange, for example a caption that is too long for a network, or a time that has already passed. Fix them and press the button again. The others are saved meanwhile. --- ## What it costs Uploading is free. **Write captions with AI** uses 4 credits per caption. The button shows the total before you press it. --- ## File types and sizes JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF images. MP4, MOV and WebM videos. The size limit depends on your plan. See [Images and video](https://social9.com/docs/posts/images-and-video). --- ## Next steps - [CSV import](https://social9.com/docs/posts/csv-import): import posts from a spreadsheet instead - [Calendar](https://social9.com/docs/planning/calendar) --- # CSV import Source: https://social9.com/docs/posts/csv-import > Import up to 500 posts from Excel or Google Sheets, the columns Social9 reads, and how it checks every row before importing. Planned your posts in a spreadsheet? Import them all at once. Social9 checks every row first and tells you what to fix, in plain words. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Upload → Import a CSV.** --- ## Get your file ready Press **Download template** for an example file. The first row must have the column names. | Column | What to put in it | Required | |---|---|---| | **date** | The day, as YYYY-MM-DD. For example `2026-11-03` | To schedule | | **time** | `14:30` or `2:30 pm` | No. Social9 picks a good time if empty | | **timezone** | A name like `Europe/London`. Leave empty to use your workspace timezone | No | | **networks** | Network names like `instagram; linkedin`, or account names from the Channels page | No. Empty means all the brand's accounts | | **text** | The post | Text or a media url | | **media url** | Links to images or videos, starting with `https://`. Up to 10 | Text or a media url | | **first comment** | A first comment. Posted on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn only | No | | **link** | A link for the post | No | Social9 also understands common other names, such as **caption** for text or **image** for media url. Columns it does not know are ignored, and it tells you which. In Excel or Google Sheets, use **File → Download → CSV**. --- ## Importing 1. Drop your file on the page, or press **Choose a CSV file**. 2. Choose **Import as**: **Scheduled posts**, **Drafts** or **For approval**. 3. Read the check. Every row shows **Ready** or what needs fixing. 4. Press **Import**. The button says how many posts it will import. Rows with problems are not imported. Press **Download rows to fix**, fix them in your spreadsheet, and import that file. --- ## Limits - Up to 500 rows and 2 MB per file. Split bigger files. - **For approval** is part of the Team plan and up. - Scheduled rows need a date in the future. > **Tip:** Write dates as YYYY-MM-DD. A date like `03/11` could mean March or November. Social9 reads it as month/day and warns you. --- ## Next steps - [Upload and schedule](https://social9.com/docs/posts/upload-and-schedule) - [Drafts and the Library](https://social9.com/docs/posts/drafts-and-library) --- # Drafts and the Library Source: https://social9.com/docs/posts/drafts-and-library > Where every post lives after you make it, what you can do with each one, and how to fix a post that did not go out. This cannot be undone | A post that is already posted cannot be edited. --- ## When a post didn't post Open **Library → Didn't post**. Each post shows why it failed, in plain words, for example "Too long for X (max 280 characters)" or "This account needs reconnecting". 1. Fix the cause. Reconnect the account, or edit the post. 2. Press **Retry**. Social9 already retries by itself when a network has a temporary problem, up to 5 tries over about an hour and a half. A post lands in **Didn't post** when retrying will not help, or when the tries run out. See [When something is wrong](https://social9.com/docs/help) for the usual causes. --- ## Media **Library → Media** keeps every file you upload in a post, so you can use it again from **From library** in Create. Press **Create image with AI** here to make one without starting a post. Deleting a file does not affect posts that already went out. They keep their copy. --- ## Next steps - [Calendar](https://social9.com/docs/planning/calendar): see and move what is planned - [When something is wrong](https://social9.com/docs/help) --- # Planning and Autopilot Source: https://social9.com/docs/planning > How Autopilot writes your posts ahead of time, and the three ways to use it. You decide whether it only writes drafts, waits for your OK, or posts on its own. --- ![Plan many: pick how far ahead, paste a link or describe it, and where to post](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/plan.png) ## Three ways to plan ahead | Way | What you do | Where | |---|---|---| | **Plan many** | Paste a link or describe what to promote. Pick a week, 2 weeks or a month. Check every post, then schedule | **Create → Plan many**, or **Home → Fill your calendar** | | **Plan my week** | Press one button. Autopilot writes your coming week from your brief | **Home → Plan my week** | | **Plan automatically every week** | Autopilot runs **Plan my week** for you on a day and time you pick | **Home → Brief & safety rules** | All three use AI credits: 4 per post. --- ## How much Autopilot does | Mode | What happens to the posts it writes | Plans | |---|---|---| | **Drafts only** | Saved as drafts. Nothing posts without you | All plans | | **Approve first** | Scheduled, but each one waits in Approvals for your OK | Individual and up | | **Full Autopilot** | Scheduled and posted, within your safety rules | Team and up | See [Autopilot modes](https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes). --- ## Stopping everything **Pause all** on the Home page is an emergency stop. Nothing posts until you press **Resume**. Scheduled posts wait; nothing is lost. Only owners and admins can pause. --- ## Next steps - [Plan your week](https://social9.com/docs/planning/plan-your-week) - [Autopilot modes](https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes) --- # Plan your week Source: https://social9.com/docs/planning/plan-your-week > Have Autopilot write a week, two weeks or a month of posts from a link or a description, check them, and schedule them all at good times. Give Autopilot something to talk about: your website, a blog post, a product page, or a few lines about a campaign. It writes the posts, one for each slot, made for each network. You check them before anything goes out. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Create → Plan many.** Or on **Home**, under **Fill your calendar**, press **This week**, **Next 2 weeks** or **A month**. ![Home, with Plan my week at the top right](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/home.png) --- ## The steps 1. **How far ahead?** Choose **This week**, **Next 2 weeks** or **A month**. 2. **What about?** Choose **Paste a link** and paste a web address, or **Describe it** and write a few lines. Leave the link empty to use your brand profile. 3. **Where to post.** Your connected accounts are ticked. Networks you have not connected yet show as **Preview only**. Posts for those are saved as drafts until you connect the account. 4. **Posts per week.** From 1 to 14, shared across the accounts you picked. 5. **Start on.** Tomorrow, or a later date. 6. **Language.** Starts with your workspace writing language. 7. Press **Write**. The button shows how many posts it will write. It takes a minute or two. --- ## Check the posts The posts appear grouped by week and day, each with its network and time. For each post you can: - **Edit** the text in place - **Rewrite this post**: the AI writes a new version (4 credits) - **Remove this post**, or **Keep** it again - Read the **Check this** warnings and **Why this post**. See [Fact checks](https://social9.com/docs/brand/fact-checks-and-why-this-post) A counter on each post shows its length against the network's limit. --- ## Send them | Button | What happens | |---|---| | **Schedule … posts at best times** | Every post goes on the calendar at its time | | **Send … to Approvals** | Every post waits in Approvals for someone to approve it | Preview-only posts are saved as drafts either way. --- ## What it costs 4 credits per post. The page shows the total before you press **Write**, for example "12 posts · uses 48 credits". If your credits do not cover every post, it says so: "Your credits cover 8 of 12 posts". It writes the ones you can afford. The rest show as **Locked**, with an offer to upgrade. Posts that could not be written are not charged. --- ## Plan my week (one button) **Home → Plan my week** is the quick version. It needs at least one connected account. - It writes the coming 7 days for the brand's connected accounts, from your brief and topics. With no brief yet, it uses your brand description. - By default that is 3 posts a week for each account, never more than your **Max posts a day**. - It needs enough credits for the whole week (4 per post). Unlike **Plan many**, it does not write part of a week. - What happens next depends on your [Autopilot mode](https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes): drafts, posts waiting for approval, or scheduled posts. You can also have it run by itself every week. See [Autopilot modes](https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes). --- ## Next steps - [Autopilot modes](https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes): your brief, safety rules and the weekly run - [Calendar](https://social9.com/docs/planning/calendar) --- # Autopilot modes Source: https://social9.com/docs/planning/autopilot-modes > The three Autopilot modes, which plan includes each, and how your brief and safety rules keep Autopilot in line. The mode is set per brand. Only owners and admins can change it. --- ## The three modes | Mode | What happens | Plans | |---|---|---| | **Drafts only** | Nothing posts without you. Autopilot writes drafts; you edit and schedule them | All plans | | **Approve first** | Autopilot plans and schedules your week. You approve each post before it goes out | Individual and up | | **Full Autopilot** | Autopilot posts for you, within your safety rules. You can pause any time | Team and up | New brands start on **Approve first**, or **Drafts only** on the Free plan. Full Autopilot is only ever switched on by a person. A mode your plan does not include shows a lock and the plan that has it. > **Note:** In **Full Autopilot**, a post that mentions one of your blocked words is not posted. It waits in Approvals instead. --- ## Your brief The brief is what Autopilot writes from. Describe your business like you would to a new team member. **Where to find it:** **Home → Brief & safety rules.** | Field | What to put in it | |---|---| | **Your brief** | Who you are, what to share, and how it should sound. Press **Example 1** or **Example 2** for ideas | | **Topics to rotate through** | Optional, separated by commas. For example: Tips, Behind the scenes, Offers, Customer stories | Press **Save brief**. Autopilot uses it from the next plan on. --- ## Plan my week automatically In the same window, **Plan my week automatically** sets a day and an hour. Every week at that time, Autopilot plans the following week for you. - It starts switched **on**, every Sunday at 18:00. Change the day and hour, or turn it off, with the switch. - It works in **Approve first** and **Full Autopilot**. In Drafts only it does not run. In Approve first, the new posts wait for your approval. - It uses credits like **Plan my week**: 4 per post. - If an automatic run fails, the reason shows here under **Last automatic run**. --- ## Safety rules Safety rules apply to every post Autopilot writes: **Plan my week**, the weekly run and **Plan many**. | Rule | What it does | |---|---| | **Max posts a day** | Autopilot never plans more than this per day, from 1 to 20. Starts at 3 | | **Quiet from / Until** | No Autopilot post goes out in these hours. A post due then waits until they end. Starts at 22:00 to 07:00 | | **Never mention** | Words and topics to avoid, separated by commas. A post that mentions one is held in Approvals instead of going out | Times use your workspace timezone. The Home page shows your rules in a **Safety rules** card. Press **Edit rules** to change them. --- ## When to switch to Full Autopilot Once you have approved 10 Autopilot posts in **Approve first**, the Home page asks if you want to switch to Full. You do not have to. It holds the only prices, offers, dates and numbers the AI is allowed to use. | Box | Example | |---|---| | **Products and services** | Sourdough loaf, Celebration cakes (order 3 days ahead), Coffee | | **Prices** | Sourdough loaf £4.50; Cakes from £28 | | **Offers and dates** | 10% off for students, Mon–Thu. Closed 25–26 December | | **Other facts** | Open 7am–3pm. Family-run since 2012. 12 Market St, Leeds | The switch **AI may only state facts from the facts sheet** is on by default. Leave it on. Small counts like "3 tips" are fine | | **Strong claims** | Words like best, #1, cheapest, guaranteed, award-winning, free delivery, limited time, sold out | A warning does not stop you from posting. It asks you to look. **What to do:** - If it is wrong, fix the text. - If it is true, add it to your facts sheet in [Brand voice](https://social9.com/docs/brand/brand-voice). The warning goes away, and the AI can use it next time. > **Note:** Without a facts sheet, Social9 checks against your brand profile instead, and says so. --- ## "Why this post" Press **Why this post** under a draft to see where it came from. | Line | What it tells you | |---|---| | **Topic** | Which of your content topics it matches, or "General" if none | | **Voice** | The voice it was written in. **Edit voice** takes you there | | **Based on** | The source: your link, your description, or the brand profile | If posts keep landing on "General", add topics in your brief or brand profile. --- ## Next steps - [Brand voice](https://social9.com/docs/brand/brand-voice) - [Plan your week](https://social9.com/docs/planning/plan-your-week) --- # Several brands Source: https://social9.com/docs/brand/several-brands > Run more than one business or client from one workspace, and keep each brand's accounts, voice and posts apart. Use it from Copilot Chat in **Agent** mode. --- ## Next steps - [Permissions and practice mode](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode) - [Tools reference](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/tools-reference) --- # Other MCP apps Source: https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/other-mcp-apps > Connect any AI app that supports remote MCP servers, and the settings to use. Any AI app that supports **remote** MCP servers can use Social9. Examples include Windsurf, Gemini CLI, Zed, LibreChat and n8n. --- ## Where to find it **Dashboard → Connected apps → Connect an app → Other MCP apps.** --- ## The settings | Setting | Value | |---|---| | **Address (URL)** | `https://app.social9.com/mcp` | | **Transport** | Streamable HTTP. Some apps just call it HTTP | | **Sign-in** | OAuth. The app registers itself, so leave client ID and secret empty | If the app uses a JSON config file, this works for most: ```json {"mcpServers":{"social9":{"type":"http","url":"https://app.social9.com/mcp"}}} ``` Some apps call the field `serverUrl` or `httpUrl` instead of `url`. When the app opens the sign-in page: sign in to Social9, pick the workspace and brands, choose what the app may do, and press **Allow**. --- ## Apps that cannot connect yet Apps that only support **local** MCP servers (sometimes called stdio) cannot connect to Social9. Social9 is a remote server only. --- ## Next steps - [Permissions and practice mode](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode) - [Tools reference](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/tools-reference) --- # Permissions and practice mode Source: https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode > What you allow an AI app to do when you connect it, how practice mode keeps it safe, and how to change or remove a connection. You decide what each AI app can see and do. You can change it, or cut it off, at any time. --- ![Connected apps: the AI apps that can work in this workspace](https://social9.com/docs/screenshots/connected-apps.png) ## The sign-in screen When you connect an app, Social9 shows "[app] wants to access your Social9". You choose four things: | Choice | What it means | |---|---| | **Workspace** | Which workspace the app works in | | **Brands it can use** | Pick brands, or **All brands (including brands added later)** | | **What it can do** | The permissions below | | **Practice mode** | On or off. On by default | Then press **Allow**, or **Deny** to cancel. --- ## Permissions | Permission | What the app can do | Ticked at first | |---|---|---| | **See your brands and calendar** | Brand profiles, connected accounts, posts, calendar, results and usage | Yes | | **Create and schedule posts** | Write drafts, edit them, upload media and put posts on the calendar | Yes | | **Use your AI credits** | Write posts, ideas and images with Social9 AI. Same credits as the dashboard | Yes | | **Publish posts right away** | Send a post now instead of waiting for its time | No | | **Approve or reject posts** | Decide on posts waiting in Approvals | No | | **Edit brand voice** | Change a brand's tone, words and facts | No | An app can never do more than **you** can. If your role changes, or you are removed from the workspace, the app's access changes straight away. --- ## Practice mode Every new connection starts in practice mode. Use it to see what the app does before you let it post for real. While practice mode is on: - Posts the app makes are labelled **Practice** in the calendar. - Scheduling and publishing go through every check, but nothing is sent to the networks. The post shows "Test mode — nothing was posted". - Nothing is sent for approval. Approving or rejecting only reports what would happen. - The app can only change its own practice posts. - The app cannot edit your brand voice. > **Note:** AI writing still uses your credits in practice mode. --- ## Changing a connection **Where to find it:** **Dashboard → Connected apps.** Each app shows who connected it, when it was last used, its brands, and **Practice mode** or **Live: can really post**. Press **Manage** to: - Turn **Practice mode** off or on - Change the **Brands** it can use - **Remove** a permission under **What it can do** - See its **Activity** for the last 90 days, including requests that were refused To give an app **more** permissions, reconnect it and tick them on the sign-in screen. Press **Disconnect** to remove an app. It loses access straight away. --- ## Plans and roles - Connecting AI apps is part of the **Individual**, **Team**, **Agency** and **Enterprise** plans. If a workspace moves to Free, connected apps stop working within a minute. - **Owners**, **admins** and **editors** can connect apps. Approvers and viewers see "Ask your workspace owner". --- ## Next steps - [Tools reference](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/tools-reference) - [Team and roles](https://social9.com/docs/account/team-and-roles) --- # Tools reference Source: https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/tools-reference > Every tool a connected AI app can use in Social9, what each one does, and the permission it needs. See [Permissions and practice mode](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode). --- ## Reading your workspace Permission: **See your brands and calendar**. | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `whoami` | Shows the workspace, who is signed in, the plan, the brands it can use, what it may do, the timezone, and whether practice mode is on | | `list_brands` | Lists the brands it can use, with their connected accounts | | `get_brand_profile` | Reads a brand's voice, audience, offer, topics and words to avoid | | `list_channels` | Lists connected accounts and whether any need reconnecting | | `list_posts` | Finds posts by status, date or text | | `get_calendar` | Shows what is planned and posted, day by day, including empty days | | `list_approvals` | Lists posts waiting in Approvals, with any flags | | `get_analytics` | Shows posts and their likes, comments, shares and clicks, for as many days back as your plan allows | | `get_usage` | Shows your plan, what is left this month, and what each AI action costs | | `get_best_times` | Suggests the next good times to post, skipping times that already have a post | | `weekly_review` | Sums up the last 7 days and the next 7: what went out, what failed, what needs you | | `get_brand_voice` | Reads a brand's full voice settings and facts sheet | | `brand_voice_check` | Checks a post for avoided words, length limits, hashtags and links. Can also rewrite it in your voice (4 credits) | --- ## Brands | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `create_brand` | Creates a new brand with every detail you give it (website, description, audience, voice, offerings, hashtags, content pillars…). Counts toward your plan's brand limit. You then connect its accounts on the Channels page | | `update_brand` | Fills in or changes any brand detail. Send only what changes | --- ## Posts Permission: **Create and schedule posts**, unless it says otherwise. | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `create_post` | Saves a new post as a draft | | `update_post` | Changes a post that has not gone out yet | | `schedule_post` | Puts a post on the calendar at a time you agree, or the next good time. Can send it to Approvals instead | | `bulk_schedule` | Schedules several drafts at once, each at its own good time | | `duplicate_post` | Copies a post into a new draft | | `delete_post` | Deletes a draft or scheduled post. Posted posts cannot be deleted | | `publish_now` | Posts right away. Also needs **Publish posts right away** | | `approve_post` | Approves a post waiting in Approvals. Needs **Approve or reject posts** | | `reject_post` | Sends a post back to drafts with a reason. Needs **Approve or reject posts** | --- ## Your own photos, videos and posts Permission: **Create and schedule posts**, unless it says otherwise. | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `upload_media_from_url` | Copies an image or video from a public link into your media library | | `create_upload_url` | Gives the app a private link to upload a file you have | | `finish_upload` | Confirms an upload landed, and resumes a large one if parts are missing | | `caption_media` | Writes a caption in your brand voice for each file, with facts to check. Needs **Use your AI credits** (4 credits per caption) | | `schedule_existing_media` | Makes one post per file, as drafts, scheduled or for approval | | `import_posts` | Creates up to 200 posts in one go, from a list. Can check them first without creating anything | --- ## Writing with AI Permission: **Use your AI credits**. These use the same credits as the dashboard. A post costs 4 credits. | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `suggest_what_to_post` | Looks at your empty days, topics and recent posts, and suggests ideas with a day and time. Saves nothing (4 credits) | | `generate_posts` | Writes posts about a topic for one or more networks, saved as drafts | | `plan_posts` | Plans a week, 2 weeks or a month of posts from a link or a description. Also needs **Create and schedule posts** | | `fill_calendar_gaps` | Finds empty slots on each account and writes drafts for them, up to 30 at a time. Also needs **Create and schedule posts** | | `adapt_for_networks` | Turns one message into a version for each network (4 credits per network) | | `repurpose_link` | Reads a web page and writes one post per network about it (4 credits per network) | | `generate_ideas` | Writes post ideas and saves them to the brand's Ideas (4 credits per batch) | | `generate_image` | Makes an image in your brand's style and saves it to your media library (10 credits, 20 for sharper) | AI tools save drafts unless you ask for more. If credits run short, `plan_posts` writes as many as your credits allow. --- ## Brand voice | Tool | What it does | Permission | |---|---|---| | `update_brand_voice` | Changes a brand's voice settings, after checking with you. Not available in practice mode | **Edit brand voice** | --- ## Help docs These need no permission. | Tool | What it does | |---|---| | `search_docs` | Searches these help docs, so the app can answer "how do I…" questions from them | | `read_doc` | Reads one help docs page, so the app can guide you step by step and give you the link | --- ## Ready-made prompts Some apps show these as shortcuts: | Prompt | What it does | |---|---| | **plan_my_week** | Looks at the calendar, finds the gaps and plans this week's posts as drafts | | **turn_link_into_posts** | Reads a page and writes one post per connected network, saved as drafts | --- ## Limits - Plan limits and credits are the same as in the dashboard. When a limit is hit, the app gets a plain message and an upgrade link. Limits are checked before anything changes. When scheduling many posts at once, it stops at the limit and keeps the rest as drafts. - Each connection can make up to 120 requests a minute, and up to 20 AI requests a minute. --- ## Next steps - [Permissions and practice mode](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode) - [Credits and usage](https://social9.com/docs/account/credits-and-usage) --- # Team and billing Source: https://social9.com/docs/account > Where to manage your team, your plan, and what you have used this month. Changed your mind before then? Press **Resume plan**. --- ## If a payment fails The page says **Payment failed — update your card**. - You keep your plan for 7 more days while you sort it out. Everything works as usual. - Press **Update card**, or finish the payment in the billing portal. - If it is still not paid after 7 days, the workspace moves to Free. At 100% it tells you again. You can dismiss it. --- ## When you run out - AI buttons stop working until the 1st of next month, or until you upgrade. They show an upgrade offer instead. - **Plan many** writes as many posts as your credits cover. The rest show as **Locked**. - Everything else keeps working. Your scheduled posts still go out, and you can still write posts yourself. To get more now, press **Raise this limit** on the Usage page, or **Get more credits** on Home, and pick a bigger plan. --- ## Next steps - [Choose a plan](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/choose-a-plan) - [Write with AI](https://social9.com/docs/posts/write-with-ai) --- # When something is wrong Source: https://social9.com/docs/help > The usual causes for the most common problems, in the order worth checking. Then check in this order: | # | Check | Why | |---|---|---| | 1 | **Does the account need reconnecting?** | The most common cause. Posts to an account that stopped working are held. See below | | 2 | **Is posting paused?** | **Pause all** on Home, or **Pause all posting** in Workspace, stops everything. Press **Resume** | | 3 | **Is it inside your quiet hours?** | Autopilot posts wait until quiet hours end. They go out after, by themselves | | 4 | **Does it mention a blocked word?** | Autopilot posts with a word from **Never mention** wait in Approvals | | 5 | **Is it waiting for approval?** | Posts in Approvals do not go out until someone approves them | | 6 | **Is the text too long, or media missing?** | Each network has limits. See [Networks](https://social9.com/docs/networks) | | 7 | **Did X refuse the same text twice?** | X does not allow the same text on one account within 24 hours | When you have fixed the cause, press **Retry**. It goes out in about a minute. > **Note:** Social9 retries by itself when a network has a temporary problem. A post that is only being held by a daily safety limit stays scheduled and goes out later. Neither shows as failed. --- ## An account needs reconnecting You see a red banner, "stopped working", or **Needs reconnect** on the Channels page. 1. Press **Reconnect** on the banner, or on the account in **Dashboard → Channels**. 2. Sign in to the network again and allow Social9. 3. Press **Retry** on any post in **Library → Didn't post**. The usual causes: - **The login ran out.** LinkedIn personal profiles need reconnecting about every 60 days. Social9 warns you two days before. - **You changed your password, or removed Social9's access** in the network's settings. - **Three posts in a row failed** for the same login or permission reason. Social9 pauses the account so it stops trying, and asks you to reconnect. - **For a LinkedIn Company Page:** you lost your **Super admin** or **Content admin** role. --- ## Instagram says it's a personal account Instagram only lets apps post for **professional** accounts (Creator or Business) linked to a Facebook Page. 1. In the Instagram app: profile → **menu (☰)** → **Settings and privacy** → **Account type and tools** → **Switch to professional account**. 2. Pick **Creator** or **Business**. 3. Link it to a Facebook Page: **Edit profile** → **Page**. 4. In Social9, press **Connect** on Instagram again. When Facebook asks, tick the Page **and** its Instagram account. Switching is free, and you keep your followers and posts. See [Instagram](https://social9.com/docs/networks/instagram). --- ## I've reached a limit The message names the limit. The usual ones: | Limit | What to do | |---|---| | **Accounts per brand** or **in total** | Disconnect one you do not use, or upgrade | | **A network shows a lock** | That network is not on your plan. On Free, only LinkedIn, Instagram, Mastodon and Bluesky | | **Brands** | Upgrade, or reuse a brand you no longer need | | **Team seats** | Remove someone who no longer needs access, or upgrade | | **Posts waiting per account** (Free) | Wait for some to go out, or upgrade for unlimited scheduling | | **X posts this month** | Wait for the 1st of next month, or upgrade | | **Approvals or Full Autopilot show a Team lock** | These are part of the Team plan and up | See [Choose a plan](https://social9.com/docs/getting-started/choose-a-plan) and [Credits and usage](https://social9.com/docs/account/credits-and-usage). --- ## AI credits ran out AI buttons show an upgrade offer instead of writing. 1. Check **Dashboard → Usage**. It shows what you have used and when credits reset (the 1st of the month). 2. Keep going by hand. Writing and scheduling your own posts uses no credits, and your scheduled posts still go out. 3. Need more now? Press **Get more credits** on Home, or **Raise this limit** on Usage, and pick a bigger plan. --- ## My AI app can't connect Check in this order: | # | Check | Why | |---|---|---| | 1 | **Is your workspace on a paid plan?** | Connecting AI apps is not part of Free. The sign-in page says "part of paid plans" | | 2 | **Is the address exactly right?** | `https://app.social9.com/mcp`, with `/mcp` at the end | | 3 | **Does your role allow it?** | Approvers and viewers see "Ask your workspace owner" | | 4 | **Is the transport HTTP?** | Pick **Streamable HTTP** or **HTTP**. Apps that only support local (stdio) servers cannot connect | | 5 | **Did you leave client ID and secret empty?** | The app registers itself. Typed-in values get in the way | | 6 | **Did you pick at least one brand and one permission?** | **Allow** stays greyed out until you do | | 7 | **Was it working before?** | The workspace may have moved to Free, or you may have been removed or changed role. Check **Connected apps** | If the app connects but "nothing gets posted", it is probably in **practice mode**. See [Permissions and practice mode](https://social9.com/docs/ai-apps/permissions-and-practice-mode). --- ## Still stuck Open the menu at the bottom left (your name) and press **Help & support**. Tell us three things and it will be fixed far faster: - **Which brand and account** - **Which post**, and roughly when it should have gone out - **What you expected instead**
